New member and recent vintage Volvo owner!
I just purchased a 1987 240 Wagon. I have only had it a week and it has been stalling on me. Once at a traffic light but today while driving!!! which freaked me out! I was able to pull over to a gas station, as I was turning in I noticed the steering was very hard to turn. After sitting for a few minutes I tried starting it, no luck. (earlier in the week it would start right back up) After letting it sit for a little bit, it started back up. I had less then a mile to my house and it tried stalling again while driving, it makes a "put put' sound and the car doesn't want to accelerate, but then it kicks in and drives. I made it home but am afraid to drive it now.
I have read that the problem is more likely the fuel pump relay. Should I start with fuses though? is this an easy fix? I have someone who could work on it. The owners manual is for an '86 not '87. So I need to find where the fuel pump relay is.
