'01 V70 T5 starts, then stops immediately
My '01 V70 T5 starts briefly, then stalls out immediately. If I press the gas pedal while starting then it rours up to 3000 rpms but stutters and stalls out. I checked the pressure at the fuel rail by pushing the little valve (it looks like a tire valve) and fuel sprayed out far enough to hit the air filter box.
I just had the alternator rebuilt at 112k miles. New plugs, coils at 100k miles. new timing belt and accessory belt at 105k miles. I've tried both ignition keys and turned each one 180 degrees but no joy. I added 5 gallons of BP premium fuel and a bottle of Lucas fuel additive but it didn't help at all.
What should I check next? I don't have a code reader but I have no error lights showing either. It acts like it's starving for fuel, but I have pressure, so....

I would first check the vacuum lines. Make sure none are torn or loose, especially around the idle valve. As for fuel pressure, it should spray hard enough to hit the car next to it, like spray 20+ feet. But the proper way to test fuel pressure is with a gauge of course.
If you have no vacuum problems, you should get the OBD-II port read just in case it is not tripping the light yet. You may also want to try to start it with a MAF unplugged.
Another question, when the car stalls, do you hear the fuel pump running for a few seconds?

I can't find any split or disconnected vacuum hoses, BUT I unplugged the MAF electrical connection and the motor fired right up!!! I cleaned the Maf with carb cleaner, allowed it to dry and put it all back together but the car will not start with the MAF connected.
So I need a new MAF, right? I have a buyer for this car as soon as I get it running again so I want to fix it at a reasonable cost. Do I go Bosch or aftermarket?
I bought an '08 V70 a week ago and it's a beauty!! Ruby red and only 31k miles.

Rebuilt sensor gone bad
The rebuilt Bosch MAF has already failed. I sold this car on Friday and the new owner called that night to say she had coasted into an Advance Auto store and a bad MAF was diagnosed.
Since the rebuilt part was guaranteed for a year I'll go with her to the repair center that did the work and get it replaced.
As it turns out, I had replaced the MAF last March and had forgotten about it. She found the receipt in the glove box. So why are the MAF sensors going bad? Both were Bosch brand sensors.
