Default 242 ball joints

Removed ball join has straight shank. My replacements have angled shanks. Can I use the angled shank parts ? Will they impact wheel alignment or steering geometry ?

The 274117 Straight ball joints fit on cars without power steering. The 274118, 274119 (left and right) angled ball joints are for cars with power steering. I put angled ball joints on a 78 without power steering and had problems (many years ago)

Hoonk
thanks for the reply
I’m working on the 242 with my son. The car has power steering so the angled ones appear to be correct. Funny that the ones removed (274117) are straight. Could have been done by a previous owner.
any comment on what the problem was when the angled ones went on a manual rack and pinion installation ?
